Baby Moments

There are two milestones in the life of my babies that I treasure so much. The first being when they take their little hands and place them on my face. Jane has started doing that. I love her little hands patting my cheeks...her face, so serious, trying to figure everything out. Then the pure joy that comes over her face when she realizes that she is actually touching her mom. I just love it!

The other time I love is when I'm holding my baby's hand and walking with them when they don't need the help anymore, but just want to hold my hand. I think that is the neatest feeling.

Bella's Birthday

Things I love about Bella:

1. She is greatful for whatever is given to her. She has always appreciated the small things.

2. Even though I bug her about them, I love her little "habits". She bites her nails, chews on her hair, cracks her knuckles, etc.

3. I LOVE to watch her eat. She enjoys her food more than anyone I know. She is very into the texture and feel of her food. We have to correct her because we are her parents, and it is VERY strange to watch, but endearing as well.

4. She is a complete ham when she is the center of attention. She shines on stage! (She is also great about letting others have a turn in the spotlight)

5. She's very bendy...we are a little grossed out, but we love the human jump rope.

6. She is very loving, huggy, and happy. She wants about 10 kisses before going out or asleep for the night. Sometimes I'm a little grumpy about it, but inside it makes me happy.

7. She gets emotionally attached to everything...even little scraps of paper.

8. Bella doesn't know a stranger. She will make a friend with anyone...scary for me, but a great talent to have.

Happy Birthday, My Beautiful Bella!!!!!

Conversations with Michael

Mom: If I see you stand on that pool table one more time, I'm going to have to paddle your bottom...

Michael (very matter-of-fact): Then I wish you couldn't see me.

*******

Michael: Can we go to the park today?

Mom: Maybe.

Michael (very seriously, not trying to be funny): Which "maybe" is it this time? The "no" maybe or the "yes" maybe?

Primary Talent Show

Today was the Primary Talent Show. My kids have been "practicing" for a month. They have changed their talents about 100 times. We went from jump roping to lip sync-ing.

Tommy and a friend did that skit where someone plays the arms of another. It was hilarious.
We video taped it, but I didn't get any photos. (I was a single parent because Dave had to work...he had a GREAT day work-wise)

Bella did her human jump-rope and similar tricks and sang a song with Rachel and Michael.

Rachel recited her poem that she wrote and led everyone in a song.

Michael (who I expected to be nervous) did a head stand, hand stand and front roll.

My kids are such hams...I don't know where they get it!!!

Soccer Spring Season

Well, we're back in the soccer season! I think I love it more than anyone...but they indulge me by playing. Rachel and Bella both had their first games this week. They have both improved so much this last year.

Bella is one of those players that doesn't look like she is going to make it to the ball, but magically does. It's like watching someone in slow motion. She is always sticking the ball and stealing it from the boys. I love it!

Rachel is extremely agressive (I'm sure it's not because I'm yelling from the sidelines). She never stops running. She scored a goal at the end of the fall season and started out this spring with a goal already. It was a sweet shot from pretty far back.

Rachel's Half-Birthday

Since Rachel's birthday falls in the summer, she is allowed to pick a day to celebrate her birthday with her school friends. So Dad took her to lunch and then Michael, Jane and Mom brought cupcakes in to share with the class. She is so cute! She has made a lot of friends this year and does very well in school. She wrote this wonderful poem:

Morning of School

Morning Meeting
Math and gym
What about art...I have to squeeze you in
Morning Meeting
Back to greeting
Gym...climb the ropes
Gym...back to jokes
Art is next
Squiggle...squiggle..done with my painting
Back to the classroom
Math is next
1,2,3,4,5,6
All the answers on my paper
Morning of school
You're like a jungle gym!

I love it!!!!

Conversations with Michael

"Mom, I only want to sing the end of the ABC song." Says Michael

"Okay, ABCDE....." I sing until I'm interrupted...

"W..X...YMCA...Ha Ha Ha"

Conversations with Michael

We are in the car and I fake cry for some reason.

"Mom, you can't cry." Says Michael

"Why not?"

"Because you have me and Baby Jane, and Tommy, Bella, and Rachel."

"So, if I didn't have kids, could I cry?"

"Yes."

"So, I am always happy?"

"Or MAD!" And he starts laughing.

Wisconsin Spring

Well, the natives here say "if you blink, you miss the spring," but I'm going to be optimistic that it is a little longer than that...if a little late in coming. We actually got up to 60 degrees today which meant we acted like wild animals let out of captivity. We did some spring cleaning, went for walks, bike rides, to the park...etc.
We also headed over to the chapel to participate in "Breakfast before the Feast on the Words" or as we used to call it, General Conference. The kids seemed to enjoy sustaining President Monson.

Jane's Birth in Terri's Words

Well, it was about time! Baby Jane weighs in at 6 lbs. 8 oz. Healthy girl with 10 fingers and 10 toes. However, the delivery was a little scary! It was like right out of a movie. I woke up in full labor at midnight, no time between contractions...and I knew that feeling of being in transition. So, we were in the car not five minutes later, with a 20 minute drive ahead of us. Dave is saying a prayer out loud, and has to yell because the windows were down because it is about 15 degrees outside and my heavy breathing is fogging the car, and I'm howling in agony. Dave was driving 70 in a 35, I'm screaming in the car to drive faster. A cop pulls us over about 5 minutes from the hospital. Dave just tells him I'm going to have the baby in the car and takes off again. We had called ahead to the hospital. I'm already so out of it, that they have to physically lift me from the car to the wheelchair. They literally whip off my clothes and check me. I'm at an 8, but the nurse knows I'll be at at 10 in no time. Sure enough, one minute later I'm at a 10. So, they try to get me to push....I have no urge...which is weird. So the nurses are all getting frustrated with me for not pushing effectively. Finally, I'm able to tell them that my back is in major pain and I don't need to push. All of a sudden, they realize she is stuck behind my pelvic bone coming face up. So they move me around until the urge to push comes. It was the most painful delivery I have ever had, and I've had 2 with no epidural before. This delivery made the others seem easy. I popped a bunch of blood vessels in my face trying to get her out. Good times! Blessings were if this had happened in the middle of the day, I never would have made it to the hospital on time. Also, if she hadn't been stuck behind the pelvic bone, I would have had her in the car. So, it all ended well. She is a beautiful baby and I already can't imagine what life was like without her. Love, Terri

Jane's Birth in Dave's Words

I just wanted to copy and paste Dave's take on Jane's birth story...

Hi all. Jane Marie Watson was born at 1:07 am this morning; 6 lbs 8 ozs, 10 fingers, 10 toes. Mom and baby are doing great. Quite the adventure on this one...was much like a movie scene, speeding to the hospital with Terri screaming...police pulled me over for doing 80 in a 35 but then provided escort...thought baby was going to come out in car; but because baby was facing-up, Terri had severe back labor which gave us time to safely get to the hospital...she was out 35 min after arriving. By far, the worst pain for Terri out of her 5 kids.Worth it though...Jane is beautiful!!!

We Joined the YMCA

Due to winter blues, we decided to join the YMCA to get out of the house. So far, it has been a lot of fun. They have a pool with a couple of water slides (great for the big kids) and play areas (great for Michael who still won't get his face wet). Michael is taking some preschool classes there and I am trying to get some workouts in. Baby Jane is having fun in the daycare. The babysitters think she is so cute; they never put her down.
