Niagra Falls

It was really really hot waiting in these raincoats in the tunnel.
This was BEFORE we got soaked. It was so wet there was no way the camera would survive.
This is after the Cave of Waters....we're soaked.
They give you free sandals on this excursion, I guess because you get so wet. We managed to loose Dave's and Tommy "real" sandals, however.

This is the trolley that took us from place to place.
Here we are on the Maid of the Mists. It was really something to experience.

This was so beautiful.

We treated ourselves to some Hard Rock food.
This is my favorite photo. Do you see some future Kohls models? Hee hee
This is what they always want to do for the photos, but we make them say 'cheese'

I don't think they lit up the Falls when I was a kid. Pretty, huh?

Day 4

Even if it didn't go as planned, Niagra still turned out to be a lot of fun. For some reason, Dave and I didn't remember to bring our passports and birth certificates for the kids, which meant we were not allowed over the border, which meant we didn't have access to the hotel that we had reservations at. We had decided to "splurge" and get a hotel at Niagra Falls. Dave was able to find some vacancy at some random Super 8 at the last minute on the American side (which we hear isn't as good as the Canadian side.) It wasn't too bad, but also wasn't as cushy as we had been hoping for. After our full day of Kirtland, we drove a couple of hours to the Falls and walked around at night. We ate dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe that was there. The photos don't do the waterfalls justice. They were absolutely beautiful.

The next day, we got passports to do all the events. The Maid of the Mists was a great boatride. Jane loved getting wet and eating the rain jackets. We watched a movie at IMAX about the Falls; we rode on the trolley; We went on the cliffs behind the falls where everyone got soaked. We ran out of time for the aquarium and science center which I'm sure would've been fun, but we were so tired, we didn't care.

The highlight of the day was running into President Uchtdorf in the middle of the Falls. We just walked by him. He was walking with the Stake President from the area. Dave and I looked at each other and were like "was that who we think it is?" So Dave calls out his name and he stopped and shook hands with us. He obviously had been headed somewhere, so we thought he was very gracious to stop and talk to us. He spoke to each of the kids in turn which they loved. We didn't ask to take a photos, because....well, it seemed like that would be weird. It's not like he's a "famous" person that gets asked to pose. Anyway, needless to say, he was extra nice and was also touring with his family. We found out later that his twin grandsons were going on their missions, so they were doing family stuff and he refused to have body guards, so it was a "secret" trip.
